eco.kid – helping to stop the lice cycle

There are 3 stages in a Head Lice development

Stage 1. Lice eggs – oval, yellowish-white specks that attach to the hair shafts with a glue and take about a week to hatch. The empty egg cases remain after the lice are hatched and are referred to as ‘nits’. The head louse develops inside the egg for 7 to 10 days. Nits are often mistaken for dandruff.
*
Stage 2. Nymphs – young hatchlings take about nine to 10 days to mature into adults. Head Lice moult three times before they become breeding adults. They excrete a protease enzyme into the joints of their exoskeleton in order to unzip their outer shell.

Hatchlings are about 0.5mm in size.
*
Stage 3. Adult head lice – The mature breeding adult louse can grow up to 4mm in size (approximately the size of a sesame seed) and have an average life span of 30 days.
After being fertilized once by a male louse, it is reported that a breeding female is capable of laying between three and eight eggs a day, meaning each female louse is capable of having anything from 90 up to 240 offspring - in a month!

eco.kid shampoos and conditioners are formulated with protease enzymes from organic paw paw aimed at disrupting the natural moulting process.

The eco.kid botanical complex coupled with paw paw enzymes works continuously on the egg sac to promote a lethal premature hatching and loosening of the eggs grip on the hairshaft.

Head lice can move at a rate of approximately 20cm a minute.
